Rise Associates is working with two community groups in Cornwall to help them become Community Interest Companies and support the delivery of key services for local people.
Over the coming months, we will be helping local groups in Polzeath and Bodmin formalise plans to take over the running of a beach and also deliver a range of projects to help regenerate the high street.
"We have been working in Cornwall for several years now, seeking to empower communities to help improve their towns and we're really excited to be supporting some incredibly ambitious plans to help local people deliver the changes they want," explained Rise Associates Founder Matt Baker.
In Polzeath, a CIC is being set up to maintain and improve the beach, protect the natural environment and respond to the challenges raised by rising sea levels. While in Bodmin locals are looking to establish a creative studio in the town centre that will act as an incubator for local talent, offering co-working spaces, growth opportunities for graduates and an art fund for community-driven creative projects.
"We are seeing more examples of local groups stepping forward across the country to strengthen vital local infrastructure," added Baker, "and we are keen to champion community power wherever we can."
